 Course Content

The Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) credential proves that you have the skills to successfully support Windows end-users and to successfully troubleshoot desktop environments that are running the Microsoft Windows operating system. This includes understanding and supporting today’s computer hardware TCP/IP networks and Microsoft software including Windows, Office and Outlook. MCDST candidates are required to pass two core exams. Exam 70-271: Supporting Users and Troubleshooting a Microsoft Windows XP Operating System and Exam 70-272: Supporting Users and Troubleshooting Desktop Applications on a Microsoft Windows XP Operating System. The MCDST credential will count as the elective towards MCSA on Windows 2000 and MCSA on Windows Server 2003, so it will satisfy the elective requirement if you are going for an MCSA.
This instructor led course is to provide individuals who are familiar with Windows XP with the knowledge and skills necessary to troubleshoot basic problems typical end users will face in network environment. You'll learn about the job duties of the Desktop Support Technician (DST), and you'll resolve a variety of common desktop operating system issues, including issues related to hardware, installation, desktop management, file and folder access, hardware, printing, and network connectivity. Training includes to configuring and maintaining applications such as Microsoft Office, Outlook Express, Internet Explorer and other Microsoft applications. UASCE courses are designed with a balance of instructor-led lecture, in-class discussions, out of class reading assignments and plenty of hands-on lab exercises.
